What are carbs and how can It Works! Carb Control help me?

Carbohydrates are everywhere—not just in your pasta. They’re hidden in everyday foods and drinks, and they give you cravings. Have you ever eaten a bag of chips, felt temporarily satisfied, yet found yourself hungry, agitated, and low on energy again just a few hours later? That’s a glycemic stress cycle fueled by carbs. Carbs spike your blood sugar, forcing your body to overreact with an insulin surge that tries to push circulating glucose into cells. That excess glucose must go somewhere, and in many cases, it ultimately converts to body fat and weight gain. It Works! Carb Control works to minimize glycemic stress.† Each powerful caplet, with clinically proven InSea2®, slows carb digestion and absorption in your body to lessen blood-sugar spikes.†* You’ll experience more, balanced energy and less carb-induced body fat as a result.†*

It Works! Carb Control FAQ

What is a Carb Blocker?

Carb blockers are  substances or mixtures of compounds that inhibit the absorption of carbohydrates in the digestive tract.  As excess carbs have been linked to obesity and weight gain (1).  Typically, they consist of natural, plant-based compounds that are available in supplement capsule form.

How do Carb Blockers work?

A carb blocker is designed to prevent the absorption of carbohydrates into the bloodstream by “blocking” their breakdown in the body.  Carb blockers inhibit some enzymes from breaking down and digesting carbohydrates, instead separating them through the digestive process without absorbing their nutrients.
This means that none of the calories, nutrients, or glucose from the carbohydrate molecule are absorbed by the body.

Do carb blockers work on Keto Diet?

If you’re on the ketogenic diet, you presumably already know that consuming too many carbohydrates will cause you to kick you out of ketosis.  Consequently, some ketogenic dieters utilize carb blockers to limit the impact of carbohydrate consumption to keep you in ketosis – the fat-burning metabolic state responsible for Ketogenic weight loss.

What are the side effects of Carb Blockers?

Side effects of Carb Blockers consist of digestive distress, bloating, cramping, stomach discomfort, gas, diarrhea, or constipation.

Do carb blockers really work?

Carb blockers contain substances that inhibit some of the enzymes that break down these complex carbs (3). As a result, these carbs then pass into the large intestine without being broken down or absorbed.

Carbohydrate blockers simply prevent a portion of the carbohydrates you consume from being digested.  They appear to block 50–65 percent of carb-digesting enzymes at best (5).

It should be noted that blocking these enzymes does not always result in the same proportion of carbs being blocked.

One study discovered that even while a potent carb blocker could inhibit 97 percent of the enzymes, it only prevented 7 percent of the carbs from being absorbed (6).

How much weight can you lose on Carb Blockers?

Several studies shown that carb blockers can contribute to achieving between 4.4 – 6.6 lbs of  weight loss.  By preventing the creation of enzymes that are responsible for digesting carbs, sugars and starch (5).

One study of Carb Blockers found that a person taking carb blockers typically lost between  2 – 5.5 pounds (0.95–2.5 kg) However another study found that participants lost up to 8.8 lbs (4 kg) more than the control group (7, 8, 9, 10).

The average weight loss for those using Carb Blocker supplements lose around 4.4–6.6 lbs (2–3 kg) (7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

Are carb blockers magic?

Carb blockers may appear to be the magical savior to indulge in a massive pizza or pasta dish, but you may want to reconsider because Carb blockers may inhibit the enzymes the body uses to break down carbohydrates, but may not actually reduce the amounts of carbohydrate the body digests (2).

Both types of carb blockers restrict the pancreas from generating enzymes required for  carbohydrate breakdown.  Without this enzyme, complex carbs cannot be broken down into smaller molecules that are easily absorbed by the small intestine, so they pass through the digestive tract without affecting calorie intake or blood sugar levels.
